Foundation Day of Training and Dinner

  • Districtwide Rotary Foundation Training - 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • District 5930 Foundation Dinner - Fellowship 5:30 pm and dinner at 6:15 pm

Both events will be held at the Corpus Christi Town Club.

We have a hotel room block at the Omni, which is right across the street from the Town Club, for that night. The rate is $149 for the night. Please call 1-800-THE-OMNI and ask for the Rotary District #5930 room block.

All District Wide Rotary Foundation Training: New Grants Management Training

Participation (2013-14 Club President plus at least  1 additional club member) is required to obtain District 5930 Rotary club certification and enabled qualifying clubs  to submit their 2013-14 District and/or Global grants proposals for further consideration.

Born and raised in Southern Alberta, Canada,  Monty received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1977 from the University of Alberta. He has served as President of two Dental Societies, including a number of years serving on the Peer Review Committee for the Alberta Dental Association. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy of Dentistry, and the International Academy of Dentistry. As a Rotary volunteer he has taken his professional skills to the less fortunate of the world, through Rotary sponsored projects; to such countries as Mexico, Jamaica, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Thailand, and Far Eastern Russia. He has served communities from the Amazon River in Peru, to the Arctic Circle in Canada.

In his Community, Monty has served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Airport Commission, is a founding member of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, and has been an active volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. He served as a Director of Habitat for Humanity and is an honorary officer for Scouts Canada. He is a Director for ShelterBox Canada. In 2001 he received the Mayor’s Recognition Award for “Distinguished Volunteer Service.” In 2003 he was awarded The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.

Monty joined the Red Deer East Rotary Club in 1987.  He served as Club President in 1990-91 and then as District Governor 2000-2001, where he worked with his District to receive RI’s 21st Century Membership Challenge Award for Zone 22. Since then he has served as a Zone Task Force Member for Disaster Relief, a member of RI’s Fellowship Committee, a Zone Leader for the Polio Eradication Campaign, and a Representative to the Council on Legislation. He has served as District Trainer, and both Zone and Regional Membership Coordinator. Monty served as an RI Training Leader to the incoming Governors, 2004 and 2005. He served as Rotary International Director from Zone 22 for the Rotary years 2007-2009 and as Vice-President for Rotary International in 2008-2009. He has served on the Montreal, Bangkok and Sidney Convention Committees, the International Assembly Committee, and served as Moderator for the International Assembly and then  as Chair and advisor to RI’s Membership Development Committee.  He is the Aide to the President of Rotary International 2013-2014, and incoming Trustee of the Rotary Foundation 2013-2017.

Monty is the Founder of the Rotarian Action Group of Dental Volunteers.

He is a certified instructor for shotgun sports, and an avid fisherman.       

Monty is married to Liz, who has also been honored as a volunteer in her community, and they are the parents of 6 children, and have eighteen grandchildren, all of whom are Paul Harris Fellows. They are active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints where Monty serves as Public Affairs Director. Monty and Liz are Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation, and are Charter members of the Rotary Foundation Bequest Society.
