Fellow Rotarians,
Well, July 1 is finally here. After two years of training and planning, your 2014-15 District leadership team is trained, organized and ready to assist all clubs in District 5930 for each to become the best possible service club. Our theme is ServiceWithFellowship.
Service to others is the key reason most of us joined, or stayed, in Rotary. It is the defining ingredient that makes Rotary special. Carol and I look forward to our visit to each Rotary club in the District. I have prepared a list of topics that I want to discuss during our club visits. They are as follows:
- Has the club implemented IGNITE or an alternative membership growth and retention plan?
- What are the club’s Rotary Foundation goals?
- Annual Giving?
- Polio Plus?
- Have they been posted on Club Central?
- Are there several club members eligible or interested in becoming a member of the Paul Harris Society?
- Local clubs’ Projects; a) list; b) summary; c) implementation dates
- International Service Project Sponsorship. Has a commitment been made to support an International Project on the District’s “Shopping List”?
- Exciting news about the 2015 District Conference - Save the Date, April 17-19, 2015
- Does the club sponsor a Rotaract or Interact club? - if not, are there plans to do so?
- Dates of future club events.
- Has the club planned a “Rotary Days” for 2014-15?
- Does the club have a designated Rotarian to promote and coordinate scholarships? Plus- Discussion of scholarships available through the District?
- Any other questions or topics the club would like to discuss?
Your Assistant District Governor will help you prepare for the visit so we can discuss the best ways to maximize ServiceWithFellowship, with the understanding that each club is different and special.
In the meantime, I encourage clubs to apply for a District Grant for a local project and select one or more of our Global Grant Projects on the District “Shopping List” to become a co-sponsor.
As your District Governor, I will promise that I, and all of our District leaders, will strive to make this a very special year for all Rotarians in our District. Rotary is changing. Welcome aboard to a new, fresh and exciting chapter of South Texas Rotary.
