At the start of each Rotary fiscal year, July – June, every Club in District 5930 gets a visit from the new District Governor.  On August 30, 2021, the Rotary Club of Aransas Pass had the pleasure of welcoming DG Amando Chapa.  His first order of business was to present our Club with Rotary International’s 2021-2022 President Shekhar Mehta’s “Theme Banner” for the Rotary Year.  His second order of business was to present our Club’s incoming president, Meg Reese, with her presidents pin.

The Rotary International 2021-2022 Theme is “Serve To Change Lives”.  DG Amando’s theme for the 2021-2022 year is “Peace Through Rotary”.  Amando stated that if basic needs are met, then there will be peace in our communities.  The absence of peace comes through unmet needs in education, literacy, and food support.  Amando recognized and praised our Club’s emphasis in all three needs as we support education through local school and community projects including the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), the Four-Way Test speech contest, Educational Scholarships and Bikes for learning, make donations to Local Literacy Programs, and support the TriCounty Christian Service Center to name a few.  DG Amando also congratulated our Club for maintaining our project goals and membership through the pandemic.

The Rotary Club of Aransas Pass truly enjoyed DG Amando’s encouraging words and under Amando’s recommendations, will continue to strive to support education, literacy, food needs, youth services and the Rotary Foundation.  We will also work to increase our membership and public image.

ADG Daniel Korus accompanied DG Amando.  His job is to help our Club whenever and wherever necessary to meet our 2021-2022 Goals.
