As we approach the end of 2020, what a year to remember.

I think we can all agree that that our daily lives have changed. Not only with Rotary but in our personal and business routines.

I am so proud of Rotarians in District 5930. We did not let the pandemic slow us down. But instead, we are organizing our efforts and being more inclusive of Rotarians from all around the District. Examples of this can be found in our District Membership, Foundation and Public Image Teams. We can also see this teamwork in other areas such as RLI, RYLA, PETS – just to name few. And the efforts of this teamwork will be evident when ...
this pandemic subsides, and we are able to conduct Rotary business as usual.

This is the time of year that we all reflect back and be thankful for all that we have and for those around us.  A trusted friend and fellow Rotarian told me at the start of this Rotary year that we are all placed in our leadership positions because the Good Lord believed we were the right person to lead in these trying times. And I believe this statement is true for each of you, as Rotarians, as well.  You are the right person to make a true difference in the lives of those around you.   So we must be thankful for all that we have and share with those in need.

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month.  Disease prevention and treatment takes on many forms, from supporting studies to helping immunize people to improving drinking water and the sanitation infrastructure. Disease and illness result in pain and injury.  Prolonged severe illness may result in loss of employment and income.  It affects families.  It affects quality of life. The world relies on Rotary to tackle these global challenges, and to set an example for others to follow.  Rotarians are committed to helping people to live healthy lives.   Our signature project in this area is Polio Eradication.   But polio is not the only disease or aspect of healthy living on which Rotarians have expended energies.  Alzheimer's/Dementia, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Blindness, Mental Health and most recently, Covid-19 are just a few of diseases that we are focusing our efforts on.

We are all living in very challenging times.  But every challenge presents an opportunity.  Rotary is opening so many opportunities for us to grow, connect, and engage our members and the communities we serve.  And 2021 will no doubt continue to offer opportunities for us, as Rotarians, to Lend A Helping Hand!

Happy Holidays!!
