"Day to remember… On June 17th, 2022 my father, a Rotarian for 55+ years, inducted me into the Port Isabel Rotary Club. In his speech, he talked about being the speaker at a Rotary Christmas party for kids in Borger, Texas, 50 years ago. I was a four-year-old, sitting with my new stuffed monkey and just watching. Most people know my dad as an avid Oklahoma State golfer but he is much more than that because he cares deeply and passionately about his community.
Over the last several years I have proudly helped the Port Isabel Rotary Club with their annual Hackers and Slackers Golf Tournament to help fund many needed projects in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. A few projects include scholarships to local high school seniors to have access to funds for higher education. In an economically challenged area, the Rotary Club provides help to the first responders so they can maintain the proper equipment for their respective services. Thanks, Dad for being such an amazing example of the kind of person this world needs. More importantly, thank you for being my dad and hero. I ❤️ you and Happy Father’s Day."
Congratulations to all Dads on this day, and Welcome Shannon to our Rotary Family!
