November 2022
From District Governor
Fellow Rotarians,
We are now approaching quickly the last of our Regional Assemblies. The fifth and final regional assembly will be held Saturday, November 12th in McAllen at the newly renovated Salvation Army.

This event will be supercharged with examples of how District and Global Service Projects help our communities and those we join in to assist to provide Service above Self! He should be the Summit Event of All Assemblies in District 5930.

Please continue to consider the new District 5930 PolioPlus Society initiative and become a Charter Member! I am glad to report that as I have finished this week’s Lower Valley club visits, I have held many clubs encouraging 100 percent Club Member Status!!!
Now that is all of us being accountable to one another!

It is easy to become a PolioPlus Charter Member:
First,  either contact Rotary International Foundation at +1 (847) 866-3000 and commit
- a $100 one-time donation to PolioPlus OR
- establish a $10 monthly donation.
(I did both to cover this year and accumulate the necessary deposits for the Society without having to think about it next year).

You will also receive Paul Harris points to accumulate to your first Paul Harris Fellowship or the next multiple PH+ with your contribution.

This Saturday our District Foundation Committee will hold a Zoom meeting to discuss this new initiative and other Club Recognitions - see the Events Calendar for the recorded presentations or contact Juan Lira (956) 744-6039 or Dee Dee Arismendez (361) 701-2528.

A short report on club visits. I am pleased to report that many of our clubs are doing very well. In each of the four Regional Assembly areas, I have visited there are only one or two per area that need Assistant Governor nurturing. Every club has an Assistant Governor to consult with on growth, foundation, new ideas, and building strength of member engagement and community service. On November 12th we will move forward on our last club visits.

A last comment. In this last month, we have received several notes from the Rotary International Foundations funding desk of a disbursement glitch that continues to be unresolved. We have been asked to be patient and I know you are all ready and able to begin your District Projects. I have appealed to our contacts to please describe what exactly the difficulty is without a specific reply. PDG Eddie Bartnesky is also working on the problem as our Foundation member for allocations.  As soon as we know we will let everyone know.

Continue to provide Service Above Self and enjoin your efforts and other members’ work in Rotary!

Thank you, for each and every one of you!

People of Action helps define Rotary for those who don’t know us. We’re professional, community, and civic leaders who connect with each other and who share a unique perspective and passion for taking action to improve the world. Describing and showing ourselves as people of action creates a personal connection to Rotary and emphasizes the impact we make in our communities.
